Questions
Things people ask before they book.
If yours isn't here, call (317) 892-0071 or send a note.
Are you available on my date?
Some dates book faster than others, especially Saturdays from May through October. That said, we can serve multiple events on the same day depending on timing and the type of service. Call or email with your date and we'll give you a straight answer.
What will my event cost?
We keep our pricing on the website: themed packages are $19 to $23 per person, Premium Dinner starts at $29, box lunches are $13 and $17, and bar packages are listed with per-person and per-hour rates. For an exact number, send a quote request. It's free and tailored to your headcount, menu and service style.
Is there a minimum number of guests?
Themed packages start at 30 guests. For smaller groups, box lunches start at 10 boxes. There's no upper limit; large guest counts are something we're set up for.
Do I need to hire staff?
Not necessarily. Buffets come in chafing racks with everything you need to serve yourselves. If you'd like us to set up, serve and clear, servers are $22 per hour plus an 18% service fee. Weddings and Premium Dinner buffets almost always include staff to keep everything stocked.
Can you handle dietary restrictions?
Yes. Every package has vegetarian options, and gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy-aware plates are routine for us. Tell us on the quote form and we'll plan and label for it.
What's included with a themed package?
Standard service ware: disposable plates, cups, silverware, linen-like napkins, chafing racks and sternos. Beverages (lemonade, iced tea, water and ice) are $1 per guest. Premium service ware with china, mason jar glasses and stainless chafers is $4 more per guest, or add the stainless chafers alone for $100 per event.
Where do you cater?
The Indianapolis metro and surrounding counties. We're based in Pittsboro, west of the city, with a second kitchen in downtown Indianapolis, and regularly serve Hendricks, Marion, Boone, Hamilton, Morgan, Putnam and Montgomery counties. Farther out is usually fine for larger events; ask.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance or W-9?
Yes, on request. We also accept purchase orders and offer net terms to established corporate accounts.
What is Hoosier Roots 2 Go?
A smart cooler stocked with our chef-made meals for workplaces, free for the employer to host. Read about the coolers.
Do you still have the restaurant?
No; Hoosier Roots is fully focused on catering. All seven themed menus are still available for events.
