About
Grandma's kitchen, Dad's pizzeria, and a company built on both.
Hoosier Roots is a chef-owned catering company in Pittsboro, Indiana, founded in 2015 by Greg Steller. We cater weddings and corporate events across the Indianapolis metro, and everything we serve is made from scratch.
Chef Greg Steller
Greg grew up cooking, quite literally, in his grandmother's kitchen on his grandparents' farm, and then on the line at his dad's pizzeria. He took culinary classes in grade school, graduated from a chef's academy after high school, and spent years working through dozens of restaurant kitchens across Indiana.
From there he became Executive Chef for Don Schumacher Racing and spent many seasons cooking for drag racing champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. on the NHRA circuit, which is where he learned to feed a lot of people well, on time, in places that were never meant to be kitchens. He worked his way across Australia before coming home to Hendricks County to start Hoosier Roots.
He still writes every menu and still cooks most of them.
We believe in the power of crossroads. Indiana sits at the center of the country, and good food is where people meet.Hoosier Roots, est. 2015
Catering for the Crossroads
Indiana calls itself the Crossroads of America, and we took the name seriously. From Pittsboro we serve the Indianapolis metro and the surrounding counties: weddings, company events, festivals and family celebrations, as buffets or box lunches. Comfortable from 30 guests to several hundred.
Seven themed menus, each one rooted in a place or a person Greg cooked with. The same kitchen also prepares in-flight meals for several airlines flying out of Indianapolis.
Where we are
Two kitchens: our home base in Pittsboro, in Hendricks County, about twenty-five minutes west of the city, and a production kitchen in downtown Indianapolis. We regularly cater in Hendricks, Marion, Boone, Hamilton, Morgan, Putnam and Montgomery counties, and farther for larger events.
